‘실용시창청음’이란 대중음악인이 실전에서 사용할 수 있는 음악적 기술의 하나이다. 실제로 음악현장에서 30여 년간 연주, 편곡, 작곡가로 활동을 해오면서 절대적으로 필요하다고 느낀 것이 바로 ‘시창과 청음’이다. 그러므로 음악의 질적 향상을 추구하는 젊은이들은 꼭 ‘시창과 청음’을 공부해야 한다고 생각한다. 특히 ‘실용시창청음’은 멜로디 시창청음과 더불어 ‘코드청음’, ‘리듬청음’을 같이 공부해야 한다.
본 교재는 전체적으로 1권과 2권으로 나누어 편집하였는데, 1권은 “Part1 - 멜로디 시창청음”, “Part2 - 리듬청음”으로 구성 하였고, 2권은 “Part3 - 코드 및 코드 프로그레션 청음”, “Part4 - 멜로디, 코드, 베이스, 리듬이 섞여있는 음악의 청음”으로 구성하였다.
1권에서는 Part1과 Part2를 병행해서 공부하고, 2권에서는 Part3와 Part4를 병행해서 공부하는 것이 바람직하다.
본 교재를 통하여 실질적인 대중음악의 기초 지식을 얻기를 기대한다.
