This book is intended for the students of the School of Korean Traditional Performing Arts to build a foundation of knowledge so that they will be able to share information about Korean traditional performing arts in English. Learning how to articulate their ideas in English is one of many tasks entailed in becoming global professional artists. Keeping this in mind, I used simple English, and made efforts to be more general than specific. Even apart from the students, I hope anyone who needs basic information about Korean Traditional Performing arts in English will find this book helpful.
To be honest, I still have not come across a clear-cut English translation for the word ¡°yeon-hui¡±, so for the time being, I have used the expression ¡°Korean Traditional Dramatic Entertainments¡± in an effort to conserve the meaning of ¡°yon (drama)¡± and ¡°hui (entertainments)¡±.
